CODE OF CONDUCT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH of ROGERS

Pursuant to biblical mandate, no officer, staff, committee member, leader, volunteer, or other person governed by Article III of the Bylaws of the First Baptist Church of Rogers shall routinely, habitually, or continually – regardless of whether in their private lives or while on church property or business – conduct themselves in any manner contrary to a conservative interpretation of Scripture, nor perform religious rites, officiate, condone, or otherwise knowingly become an accessory to any conduct contrary to a conservative interpretation of Scripture. Likewise, no church property shall be used in a manner contrary to a conservative interpretation of Scripture, or for the performance of religious rites, ceremonies, or other actions contrary to a conservative interpretation of Scripture. Such conduct includes but is not limited to the following:


(1) Sexual Conduct. No person governed hereby shall engage in any sexual conduct or contact with any person who is not his or her spouse. No person governed hereby shall actively practice homosexuality, nor shall they perform any wedding, premarital counseling, or other ceremony blessing a same-sex couple. No person governed hereby shall view pornography or other sexually explicit material. No person governed hereby shall in any way sexually harass or assault another.


(2) Substance Use. No person governed hereby shall ingest, inhale, consume, use, or otherwise introduce into their body any substance not prescribed by a qualified and licensed medical professional which may cause any degree of intoxication, drunkenness, stupor, high, or lack of self-control.


(3) Integrity. No person governed hereby shall for personal gain act deceptively or dishonestly.


(4) Life. No person governed hereby shall conduct himself or herself in any manner that degrades the value of human life.


(5) Speech. No person governed hereby shall use profanity or engage in course jesting, tell dirty jokes, verbally or psychologically abuse another person, or otherwise speak in such a fashion that discredits the name and cause of Christ.


Any person governed by this Article who is found to be in violation of this Code of Conduct shall be excluded from employment and/or service at First Baptist Church. Furthermore, any person governed by this Article may be so excluded after only one such occurrence if said person remains unrepentant or such occurrence is so severe, blatant, and/or extreme as to cause serious discredit to the name and cause of Christ.
