Passage: Revelation 1:4-8
God’s final call enlists His church.
His call is to literal local churches.
4 John to the seven churches that are in Asia:
His call begins with grace and results in peace.
4...: Grace to you and peace
His call is Trinitarian from the Godhead.
4...from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ,
The Father is “who is and who was and who is to come.” This speaks of the eternality and omnipresence of God.
The Spirit is “the seven Spirits who are before His throne.”
The Son is “Jesus Christ.”
God’s final call exalts Jesus Christ.
5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood— 6 and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to bHis God and Father—to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Jesus is the faithful witness.
Jesus is the firstborn of the dead.
Jesus is the ruler of the kings of the earth.
Jesus loves us.
Jesus released us from our sins by His blood.
Jesus has made us to be a kingdom.
Jesus has made us. . .priest to His God and Father.
Jesus receives the glory and the dominion forever and ever.
God’s final call is urgent for all.
7 Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen. 8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Jesus is coming.
7 Behold, He is coming with the clouds. . .
He is coming visibly.
7 Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him
He is coming obviously and universally.
7...every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen
He is coming convincingly.

He is coming sovereignly.
7...So it is to be. Amen
Jesus is confirming His authority.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
His confession expresses His eternality.
