Passage: Hebrews 11:39-12:3
Notice the warnings in Hebrews:
Hebrews 2:1 For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.
Hebrews 2:3 How will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?
Hebrews 3:12 Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.
But in the midst of the warnings, we see these words of “better things” to come.
Hebrews 6:9 But beloved, we are convinced of better things concerning you and things that accompany salvation though we are speaking in this way.
We also have a better way.
Hebrews 12:3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary band lose heart.
God has witnesses behind us and around us. Hebrews 11:1-38, 12:1
1Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
God has something better for us. Hebrews 11:40
40 because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect.
God has Jesus before us. Hebrews 12:2
2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the aauthor and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary band lose heart.
God has something better for us.
He has surrounded us with witnesses.
He has placed Jesus before us.
So run. . .laying aside sinful encumbrances, fixing our eyes upon Jesus
