Passage: Revelation 21:1-8
Heaven is a real place. 1a
1 Then I saw. . .
Heaven is a restored place.
1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.
Heaven is a residence place. 2
2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.
Heaven is a relationship place. 3
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them
Heaven is a relief place. 4
4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
Heaven is a renewed place. 4b-5
4…the first things have passed away.” 5 And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”
6 Then He said to me, “aIt is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.
Heaven is a refreshing place. 6b
6. . . I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost.
Heaven is a rewarding place. 7
7 “He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son
The Bible teaches that heaven is a place of reward. It mentions 5 different crowns to be awarded to saints of God.
The imperishable or incorruptible crown 1 Cor. 9:24-27
The crown of exultation or joy Phil. 4:1; 1 Thess. 2;19-20 soul winners crown
The crown of righteousness 2 Tim. 4:7-8 “love His appearing”
The crown of life James 1:12 “love God while being persecuted”
The crown of glory 1 Peter 5:1-4 “faithfully shepherding the flock”
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done whether good or bad.
1 Corinthians 3:12-15
12 Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work. 14 If any man’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

8“But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
